The night before a recent funeral for an 8 year old, I organised a Facebook event called ‘A Candle for Kaylen’, asking the community to light a candle and put it in a window their home. I also asked them to post a picture of the candle to Facebook. Around 200 pictures were posted and in addition to the funeral, three extra memorial services were required, due to the high numbers of people wishing to pay their respects.
