Shared Outcomes Framework: Numbers new to faith

Learn more about ‘numbers new to faith’, including its definition, indicators, guidance and tools available

NUMBERS NEW TO FAITH IS one of the outcome areas of the Shared Outcomes Framework. It counts the number of baptisms and confirmations (and other first-time public confessions of faith where baptism or confirmation would not be appropriate).

Definition guidance

The guidance document below explains the definition of the outcome, the indicator(s) for measuring it and some basics around its use.

Further guidance

The guidance document below builds on the definition guidance with further details of interpreting the outcome definition and some advice for measuring in practice.

Tools

There are plans to develop a platform for helping churches and dioceses with measuring the Shared Outcomes Framework indicators; however, that will take some time. In the meantime, a temporary tool is provided below.

Record of first time public confessions of faith – This is a very basic Microsoft Word template that can be used to help churches record when someone has made a public declaration of faith that matches the indicator definition for this outcome to help with their reporting.
