Project Directory
Explore funded projects from dioceses across the Church of England and discover the work being supported through strategic funding
THIS PAGE PROVIDES A DIRECTORY of the Strategic Mission and Ministry Investment programmes funded by the National Church since 2017.
These programmes have been made available through the Church Support Hub with the permission of dioceses and partner organisations. The directory includes programmes supported by Strategic Development Funding (awarded 2017–22), Strategic Transformation Funding (2020–22), and the current funding programmes introduced in 2023: Partnerships Funding and the Diocesan Investment Programme.
The aim of these funding programmes is to support dioceses and other partners in making the Church’s Vision and Strategy for the 2020s a reality in parishes across England, helping the Church to become younger and more diverse, a Church where mixed ecology is the norm, and a Church of missionary disciples.
Overview of funding programmes
Diocesan Investment Programme (DIP)
DIP funds a range of activities within dioceses, from developing mission across the whole diocese to a programme focused on a particular geographical area or demographic group. The funding also supports curates, and provides shorter-term support to address constraints in dioceses’ capacity to develop and implement long-term strategies.

Partnerships Funding
Partnerships Funding addresses a gap or barrier that currently inhibits delivery of the Church’s Vision and Strategy by funding national programmes. It expands, scales, or replicates approaches already developed successfully, working with mission partners, as well as funding research and innovation.

Strategic Development Funding (SDF)
Strategic Development Funding (awarded 2014–22) supported major change programmes that made significant contributions to dioceses’ strategic plans.
Strategic Transformation Funding (STF)
Strategic Transforming Funding (2020–22) helped dioceses to develop and deliver diocesan-wide mission and growth strategies.
Innovation Funding
Innovation Funding (2020–22) supported limited scale projects which innovated and generated learning about “good growth” in the light of the Church’s Vision and Strategy.
