Reaching out with Robins

I feel genuinely heartbroken for all those who have been denied the opportunity to properly say goodbye to their loved ones during the pandemic. Unlike many other significant events in our lives, a funeral cannot be rearranged. I wanted to reach out and acknowledge the lives of all those who have died and the families they have left behind with a specially designed poster for displaying in windows –  a little like the NHS rainbow window campaign.

I hope that the simple gesture of displaying this poster in windows, and promoting the image on social media, will let grieving families know that their suffering has not gone unnoticed.

I decided to design the poster myself. I chose a Robin because according to the RSPB it is the UK’s favourite bird. It’s also a symbol of hope.

I’ve done a black and white version too, which can be offered as an absorbing/calming colouring activity for children and adults.

Both can be downloaded here (links open PDFs):

Anyone can simply put the poster in their window. If you want to join in, feel free to mention the campaign on your website and social media platforms, with the hashtag: #remembertherobin.
